Acts of Kindness

The day I heard about Newtown was one of the most devastating days of my life. I was at a work event when the news came pouring in, and as I drove to Naples, I listened to NPR in hysterics. I just couldn’t believe that there was so much hatred in the world. When I heard about #26Acts, which was started by journalist Ann Curry, I knew it was a way that I could cope with the sadness and despair I was experiencing. So over the course of two months, I completed 26 Acts in honor of 26 victims.

After Orlando, I scrolled through my newsfeed and saw post after post. And I thought, what if these posts could be turned into actions? So now, I am embarking on 49 Acts of Kindness, in honor of the 49 lives lost in the shootings. I hope you’ll join me in taking some sort of action, no matter how big or small, no matter if it’s one act or 13 or 49.

We are all human here. And we must do our best to spread kindness, love and positivity during times of sadness. #49Acts #49ActsofKindness

I also encourage you to check out this Facebook group, which was started by a few compassionate friends. 🙂
